Barb Stegemann, author, CEO and founder of The 7 Virtues fragrances, is returning to the CBC’s Dragon’s Den this month. Stegemann landed her first big break in the perfume business after she first appeared on the CBC’s reality show on February 9th, 2011, where she presented The 7 Virtues, a fragrance line developed to help boost the economy of war-torn nations. Based out of Halifax, Nova Scotia, the company sources oils from nations around the world through fair trade, where they are used to produce unique and beautiful scents. The line includes the original 7 Virtues scent, Afghanistan Orange Blossom as well as the Noble Rose of Afghanistan and Vetiver of Haiti, a fragrance for both men and women. Stegemann’s compelling pitch made the notoriously tough Dragons cry and led to a venture capital deal, followed by cross-Canada distribution at The Bay.
This month, Stegemann will make her second appearance on the Den — this time on an episode that revisits some of the show’s most promising pitchers. The special episode will air February 29th at 8pm, EST, 8:30 in NFLD on CBC. Stegemann was recently made the first Honorary Colonel for 14 Wing Greenwood of the Royal Canadian Air Force Base this past December. The collection is available at 91 The Bay locations across Canada, thebay.com and at the company’s online store the7virtues.com.
