Michael Kors collaborates with Estee Lauder on colour cosmetics collection.

Project runway mainstay Michael Kors has embarked on a challenge of his own for spring 2010. The American fashion designer has created a limited edition collection of makeup with Estee Lauder that will arrive at select Lauder counters in January 2010. The collaboration stemmed from Kors' longtime friendship with Aerin Lauder. "Nobody understands modern glamour and luxury like Aerin Lauder and the Estee Lauder brand, which is what this collection is all about," says Kors. (Michael's fragrance license is held by the Estee Lauder Companies.) The Estee Lauder Michael Kors Very Hollywood Color Collection, as it is called, features two very different colour stories: Bel Air Beige, a coral palette of shimmery peach lips and cheeks with a smokey eye; and Rodeo Pink, a vibrant palette of raspberry tones with bold lips and a defined eye. Each palette will contain coordinating shades of blush, eyeshadow duo, eye pencil, lip sheen spf 15, lip gloss and nail lacquer. Three complementary products of shimmering loose powder, lip sheen in Hollywood gold and lip gloss in gold will work with both palettes. Pricing ranges from $22 for an eye pencil to $45 for loose powder. "The Bel Air Beige palette was inspired by the understated elegance of the Bel Air Hotel and the timeless chic of California neutrals," adds Kors. "Rodeo Pink brings to life the flip side of Hollywood glamour. I love the iconic pink of the flowers that line Rodeo Drive and the bright colours of the homes in the Hollywood Hills." He says he loves the idea of a super glamorous gown with natural hair and makeup - or the reverse - an understated little dress can be amazing with dramatic hair and makeup. He believe its the juxtaposition that makes it all modern.
