Educating Canada's Beauty Experts

Danielle Bibas to join Avon

Written by: Dave Lackie
P&G Beauty Canada executive Danielle Bibas is heading home to Brazil where she will be Avon's VP of  Marketing for Latin America -  a huge job considering Avon is the number one beauty company in the region. "I've been with P&G for 15 years and said I would only leave when an offer came round that I just couldn't say no to.  And this is it," she says. "My last two-and-a-half years here in Toronto were specially fabulous.  I got to meet and work with some incredible people. I've enjoyed my time here tremendously." The move will allow her to be close to her family and friends. It's impossible to underestimate the impact Bibas has had on P&G Beauty Canada.  Before she arrived, P&G was very much a packaged-goods focused company that offered quality products and good value. But it wasn't seen as a leading player in the beauty category.  Danielle has changed that in this country. She brought a passion and enthusiasm for fashion and beauty from the minute she arrived. She quickly beefed up the public relations activities and set about building partnerships with the fashion industry in particular.  She brought the P&G Beauty Awards to Canada last fall, started a partnership with Toronto's Fashion Incubator and sponsored Montreal Fashion Week among others.  A big supporter of beauty experts in the field, she put an emphasis on product knowledge and training. "Yes, I am planning to buy a house with 35 rooms to host everybody that has been telling me they will come visit to spend New Year's Eve in Rio," she jokes. "But I do want to thank everyone for a wonderful time while living in Toronto." Danielle, on behalf of the Canadian beauty industry, thank you.  You've brought such passion and excitement to the industry.  We will certainly miss you here. by Dave Lackie
