Katy Perry surfs into fragrant waters
Pop star Katy Perry may be surfing atop the Billboard 100 with her California Girls smash, but she isn’t taking a break. According to WWD, the 25-year-old singer is going to launch her first signature scent in November exclusively at Nordstrom in the U.S. (No Canadian distribution details have been made as of yet.)
“I have about 50 fragrances and I’m intrigued by the mystique scent has,” said Perry to the paper. “I am a product whore. I’m always looking for the next great thing.” She says the scent will be called “Purr” and was inspired by her Catwoman stage costume. Hence, the bottle is designed in the shape of a cat complete with jeweled eyes and metallic accents. “I really wanted to develop a scent that was completely unlike anything I’d smelled before and not one that smelled like a knockoff of another scent.”
The scent itself was developed by Firmenich and features notes of apple, peach nectar, green bamboo, jasmine blossom, Bulgarian rose, vanilla orchid and creamy sandalwood. It will be offered in an eau de parfum format in a variety of sizes.
