[UPDATE: On September 10, CoverGirl released the full collection of images (below), including looks named Jedi, Chrome Captain, Dark Apprentice, Mystic and Resistance Pilot, which features singer Janelle Monáe.]

Aiming to capitalize on fan fervour for Star Wars: The Force Awakens (the J.J. Abrams–directed sci-fi epic hits theatres in December), CoverGirl has teamed up with Lucasfilm on a makeup collaboration. The movie-maker has partnered with seven brands for the promotional push, but CoverGirl is the only player in beauty. This isn’t the cosmetics brand’s first film partnership; in 2013, it also created the Capitol Collection for The Hunger Games franchise.

Inspired by Star Wars’ iconic characters, CoverGirl global creative director Pat McGrath designed six futuristic faces—three from the Light Side, and three from the Dark. Two of the looks were just revealed (above): Droid, done with a luminous gold palette, and Stormtrooper, an extreme graphic eye with a deep red lip.

Although the collection’s flashy limited-edition packaging (adorned with famous Star Wars quotes) will not launch in Canada, the products—lipsticks, mascara and nail polishes—used to create the looks will land at drugstores here come October.
