Terry Yanofsky, the new SVP, General Manager of Sephora Canada

Today, Calvin McDonald, president and CEO of Americas at Sephora, announced a key appointment at Sephora Canada: Terry Yanofsky will be joining the fast-growing beauty retailer as SVP, general manager of Sephora Canada, effective October 5.

She will replace the outgoing SVP, GM, Philippe Pinatel, who has held that role since 2012 and will be leaving the company in early 2016. (Details on his next endeavour have not yet been announced; read the exclusive Cosmetics interview with Pinatel on the future of beauty e-commerce here).

Yanofsky has extensive experience working with big-name retailers and comes to Sephora Canada after five years at L Brands, where she was the country manager for Bath & Body Works Canada. Prior to that, she spent seven years at Ikea.

McDonald also took this opportunity to announce the recent hiring of Kathy Vurinaris, Sephora Canada’s new VP of merchandising. Previously, Vurinaris spent nine years as VP of product development and brand management for Joe Fresh.

Often viewed as an innovator and disruptor in the beauty retail space, Sephora Canada has opened 57 stores across the country in the past five years. The company also made enhancements to in August, opening a new distribution centre in Brampton, Ont., and offering Canadian shoppers cheaper, faster shipping.
