Coty Enjoys Good Hair Day With £420m GHD Takeover

British hair straightener maker GHD is being sold for £420m to an American company that owns some of the world's best-known hair styling brands. GHD - “Good Hair Day” - was founded by three entrepreneurs in Bradford in 2001 for £15,000. Since then its ceramic straightening irons and hairdryers have become popular with stylists and celebrities. Read more at BBC.

US firm Coty is acquiring the business, where it will sit alongside global hair care brands such as Wella and Clairol.

Coty to Promote Pane to Chief Executive Officer After P&G Deal

“Coty Inc., the maker of fragrances by Davidoff and Marc Jacobs, said Camillo Pane will be promoted to chief executive officer when the company’s acquisition of Procter & Gamble Co.’s beauty brands is completed. Bart Becht, who has served as interim CEO, will remain with the company as chairman, New York-based Coty said Thursday in a statement. Tiffany’s Puts a Ring on Beyonce’s Perfume Maker

“Tiffany & Co.  is about to get much more serious about its fragrance business. The jeweler said on Wednesday it has signed a licensing agreement with Coty in a bid for a much bigger piece of the high-end fragrance market. Currently, Tiffany sells a small assortment of eight colognes and perfumes for men and women ranging in price from $60 to $140 a bottle, remnants of a decades-old deal with Chanel.” Read more at Fortune.

Dolce & Gabbana Fragrances Refuses Transfer to Coty

“As part of the merger between Coty and Procter & Gamble’s beauty business, 10 of P&G’s fragrance licenses will be transferred to Coty. P&G’s Dolce & Gabbana will not be making the move with the likes of Hugo Boss and Gucci, since it did not consent to the transfer before a given deadline.
