Before anyone could even buy Montreal beauty entrepreneur Nannette de Gaspé Beaubien’s namesake brand in her home and native land, Vogue.com had declared her line a “Canadian skin phenomenon.” In her career as a private equity investor, de Gaspé Beaubien had backed a Quebec tech biz called Biomod, which had patented a state-of-the-art way of delivering ingredients (specifically, lipidic microparticles) deep into skin via dry-to-the-touch fabric.
Originally planning to pitch the innovation to the cosmetics industry, de Gaspé Beaubien decided to bring the concept to market herself. Now carried at Holt Renfrew, her luxe waterless “techstiles” for face and body are embedded with anti-aging actives, making for totally mess-free masking.
