Popular French-Korean Skincare Brand Erborian Comes to Canada

French-Korean skincare brand Erborian has landed in Canada, launching this month in stores and online at Hudson’s Bay, as well as on The Shopping Channel and Sephora.ca. Billed as “Korean skin therapy,” the company is perhaps most famous for launching its BB cream in Europe back in 2009, several years before most North Americans would hear of the then-unusual makeup/skincare hybrid.

The brand was founded in 2007 by Korean scientist Hojung Lee, who now runs the R&D in Seoul, and Katalin Berenyi, a Paris-based beauty marketing whiz. The two sought to create a line balanced between their two worlds, combining traditional Korean herbs with a French sense of style.

Erborian is now sold at department stores and other retailers in more than 20 countries. In 2012, the L’Occitane Group acquired a majority stake in Erborian, making it the company’s first foray into product offerings with roots in Asia.

The 23 Erborian SKUs now available across Canada include best-sellers like the Solid Cleansing Oil, $42, a travel-safe cleanser and makeup remover; the Bamboo Waterlock, $48, an overnight hydrating mask; and the Pâte au Ginseng, $76, a skin-tightening anti-aging mask.
