Canadian Screen Awards: Best Achievement in Make-Up
On March 8, at the pre-Canadian Screen Awards dinner, I sat down with M.A.C Cosmetics who sponsored the Best Achievement in Make-Up award. The winner, Elizabeth Kuchurean, is the makeup artist on the Discovery Channel’s Frontier, Mushkegowuk Esquewu, about the North American fur trade of the 1700s, which is shot in several locations including Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Ontario. “Most of the time as a makeup artist you’re worried about lipsticks melting, but on this show I’m trying to stop products from freezing. I keep the foundations under my coat,” says Kuchurean, who has also been nominated for a Gemini Awards for Best Achievement in Make-Up. —Alex Laws
