Editor’s Picks: My Music Festival Faves

Not yet ready to loose my buzz from Canadian Music Week which wrapped up on the weekend, I’ve started plotting out my must-see music festivals this summer.  And because I like a prepped makeup bag before I hit stage right for a whole day, I’ve also already starting planning my looks. Here’s a peek at my upcoming festival schedule and the things I won’t want to leave home without. —Heather Marrin

Hot ticket: Field Trip
Where: Toronto, ON
When: June 3 to 4, 2017
What to expect: Epic performances from Arts & Crafts veterans Broken Social Scene and Feist as they both rock their latest releases.
Must-pack product: After a whole day of summer libations and live music, I suspect I’ll need a little pick me up before BSS closes the festival Saturday night. Herbivore’s coconut water-based face mist definitely gets the hydration job done.

Herbivore Rose Hibiscus Coconut Water Hydrating Face Mist, $34, at Sephora.

Hot ticket: Montebello Rock Fest
Where: Montebello, QC
When: June 22 to 25, 2017
What to expect: A whole lotta noise from the likes of Queens of the Stone Age and Eagles of Death Metal and a sure-to-be memorable performance from the Wu-Tang Clan.
Must-pack product: M.A.C’s “dare-to-wear” dark chocolate matte lipstick — I plan to show as much edge as the bands on stage.

M.A.C Lipstick in In My Fashion, $21, at maccosmetics.ca.

Hot ticket: Ottawa Blues Fest
Where: Ottawa, ON
When: July 6 to 16, 2017
What to expect: An eclectic mix of artists that range from the soulful Gary Clark to Canadian faves July Talk, Sam Roberts Band and Tegan and Sara.
Must-pack product: Makeup Forever Colour Paints in red and white, because (obviously!) I’m watching Canadian talent in Canada’s capital city.

Makeup Forever Aqua XL Color Paint in L-14 (red) and M-16 (white), $25, at Sephora in May.

Hot ticket: WayHome Music Festival
Where: Oro-Medonte, ON
When: July 28 to 30, 2017
What to expect: Solange and Frank Ocean stealing hearts and inspiring 2017 fall fashion stylings.
Must-pack product: Bioderma’s Photoderm Spray SPF 40 is a must! With 65 bands on the bill there’s a lot to see and who wants a sunburn dampening the fun? Safety first.

Bioderma’s Photoderm Spray SPF 40, $30, at drugstores.

Hot ticket: Edmonton Folk Festival
Where: Edmonton, AB
When: August 10 to 13, 2017
Must-see band: The Staves. This sister trio’s perfectly harmonized melodies will make you feel things you didn’t know you could feel.
Must-pack product: Shiseido Full Lash Multi-Dimension Mascara Waterproof. Last time I saw them live I cried. Like a lot. This time around I’m not going to let my feelings ruin my eye makeup.

Shiseido Full Lash Multi-Dimension Mascara Waterproof, $32, at Sephora, Hudson’s Bay and select drugstores.
