Editor’s Picks: No-Fuss Summertime Must-Haves

When it comes to my summer beauty routine, I’m constantly on the hunt for multi-purpose formulas that offer big benefits or a pleasant pick-me-up. Simply put, I want to go from my morning walk with the dog, to work, and then onto happy hour feeling hot to trot, without having to spend too much time reapplying. I know, it sounds like a beauty junkie’s daydream, but these magic makers exist. Here are few of my favourite, no-fuss, summer essentials that get the job done, with little to no effort required.

The precision of this liner alone is something to write home about, but couple its extra-fine point with a waterproof formula that doesn’t smudge or fade and highly pigmented colour options in four finishes including matte, lustrous, diamond, and metallic, and boom! — I’m sold on the whole paintbox of these liquid liners that let you add colour to your lids that lasts all day.

Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Ink Eye Liner, $30, at Sephora.

This recently launched broad spectrum tinted sunscreen has become my new BFF. Formulated with Shiseido’s WetForce technology (this product becomes even more badass at protecting you when you sweat or come into contact with water) even when I forget to reapply after a quick post-work shower, it still has me covered.

Shiseido BB Broad Spectrum SPF 50+ WetForce, $48, at Hudson’s Bay.

Warm weather requires hydration and this new concealer from Benefit is infused with vitamin E and apple seed to ensure your coverage doesn’t leave that unpleasant caked-on effect many concealers are guilty of. After application it lasts six hours, but a speedy swipe leaving the office will leave you camera ready.

Benefit Cosmetics Boi-ing Hydrating Concealer, $27, at Sephora.

There was a time I wouldn’t leave home without Lancôme Hypnose. Now, I’m smitten with this new big fella. Offering up to 24 hours in wear time and instant volume that could likely only be replicated by laborious fake lashes, this latest addition is a hit. Scratch that, a BIG hit.

Lancôme Monsieur Big Mascara, $31, at Hudson’s Bay.

Beach-inspired hair at the office? No problem! Verb’s Sea Shampoo is the perfect fit for those who, like me, aren’t into high-maintenance routines to get that fresh-out-of-the-ocean mermaid wave. It’s also safe for colour-treated hair, which is a must in my book thanks to my lightened summer locks.

Verb Sea Shampoo, $18, at Sephora.

Most summer days, by 2 p.m. I’m dying to hit the snooze button and find a breezy spot in the shade for a quick power nap. That’s not always (read: never) possible, which is where this Hydrating Mist from Bondi comes in. Formulated with antioxidants and vitamin B3, a few spritzes later, I’m feeling refreshed rehydrated and ready to go.

Dr Roebuck’s Bondi Hydrating Mist, $29, at BeautyBoutique.ca

I like a good stain in the summertime because I’m constantly reaching for my water glass, and this baby gives full coverage and 10-hour wear. There are 13 shades to choose from, each with a diamond-shaped applicator, which makes following the lines of your lips a breeze — especially handy when you’re using a stain!

Yves Saint Laurent Vinyl Cream Lip Stain, $41, at Hudson’s Bay.
