Editor's Picks: Our Award-Worthy Night In
Cue the PVR (and skip the commercials): This Sunday, we will be sinking into our couch cushions with a bowl of freshly popped kernels for the 90th Academy Awards and we couldn’t be more stoked. On one hand, we can’t wait to see all of our favourite powerhouse actors hit the stage to accept their Oscars, and on the other we’re looking forward to making the most of the three screen-tied hours with a few much-needed, spring beauty treatments. We might not know who’s going to win in Hollywood on Sunday night, but here’s a snapshot of the award-worthy treatments that will be making an appearance in our living rooms.
Star Gaze
The red carpet pre-Oscar show isn’t going to be the only thing that’s star-studded this weekend. With a cocktail of liquorice and marshmallow leaf to firm and define, this sparkling treatment from GlamGlow actually has glitter suspended in the gel formula for extra wow factor and Instagram appeal. To remove it, simply peel the dry treatment off for a tighter, more firmer feel — without missing a second of the action.
GlamGlow #Glittermask Gravitymud™ Firming Treatment, $75, at Sephora.
Mitt Maintenance
Our mitts have been feeling a little chapped and chipped. In need of a little TLC, literally, we’re turning to Essie’s Treat Love & Colour collection formulated with collagen extract and camellia oil to pamper dry brittle nails. Available in 18 shades, this no-fuss mani doesn’t require a base or top coat. The hard part will be holding off the popcorn while it dries.
Essie Treat Love & Colour Nail Strengthener, $9, at Walmart.
Prime Time
Sometimes your hair requires a visit from a good, old-fashioned standby. (We call this the Jack Nicholson of hair treatments.) We’ll be pampering our locks with the Moroccanoil classic, which features anti-oxidant-rich argan oil and vitamin-rich linseed and can be used on wet or dry hair to strengthen, soften and boost shine.
Moroccanoil Moroccanoil Treatment, $36, at Sephora.
Exfoliation Station
With sandal season just around the corner, our barking dogs are in desperate need of a peel and polish. A pair of booties packed with anti-oxidants and alpha hydroxy acids, these Baby Soft Foot Peels from Boscia remove dead skin-cell buildup while also providing deep hydration. Hot tip: The process takes 60-90 minutes and it’s recommended you do not walk around while wearing the booties so we’ll be stocking up on snacks and hitting the powder room prior to putting them on.
Boscia Baby Soft Foot Peel, $26, at Sephora
Lip Service
Dry air indoors and out has left our lips calling out for a hydration hero: Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream Intensive Lip Repair Balm. Formulated with a fresh eucalyptus scent, Arnica flower and petrolatum offer up their healing powers and a mixture of honey extract, shea butter and palm tree butter seal in moisture to smooth and soften.
