Nature Collection Stores to Launch Across Canada

LG Corp., one of Korea’s largest cosmetics makers, has announced that it will convert 26 Canadian locations of The Face Shop and Fruits & Passion into a new “one-stop shop” concept, called Nature Collection.

The new stores will stock The Face Shop and Fruits & Passion, both owned by LG Corp. The first Nature Collection location in Canada opened last month at Vaughan Mills in Toronto.

Having a multi-brand retail concept means LG could potentially launch more of its K-beauty labels into the Canadian market “in the near future,” said Hyobin Song, marketing director for The Face Shop and Fruits & Passion in Canada, in an official statement.

LG’s beauty portfolio also includes Belif (already sold stateside at Sephora), The History of WhooBeyond and others

LG acquired Fruits & Passion—and the Quebec-born company’s network of approximately 2,000 stores—in 2013, which gave the Seoul-based conglomerate a way to quickly expand into North America. Fruits & Passion is best known for its scented bodycare and home-ambience products, such as candles.

Meanwhile, The Face Shop, founded in 2003, specializes in retailing its own “naturalistic,” budget-friendly Korean beauty products, including skincare and makeup. Since arriving in Canada in 2013, The Face Shop has opened more than 35 locations, capitalizing on the growing North American fascination with K-beauty.

The trend, which began with the BB-cream boom, has now expanded to include cushion compacts, sheet masks and treatment essences—innovative product categories that would have been obscure to most Canadian consumers just a few years ago.
