New in Stores: Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey Pure EDP

The fragrance genre: Woody aquatic floral

The perfumer: Dominique Ropion

The inspiration: Like the original L’Eau d’Issey (1992), this latest eau de parfum in the ever-popular franchise is inspired by water, and mirrors its successful formula: aquatic top, floral heart and musky base.

The notes: The updated blend of blooms, both delicate and dense, is enhanced by two IFF patented molecules: Maritima, evocative of ocean breeze, and Cashmeran, tapped for its ability to reinforce florals.

Top notes: Maritima, ambergris
Middle notes: Lily of the valley, orange blossom, damask rose, jasmine
Base notes: Cashmeran

The bottle: The iconic conical L’Eau d’Issey bottle is made see-through and given a new, round-edged base, reminiscent of a water droplet. American industrial designer Todd Bracher was commissioned for this update, giving it his signature Scandinavian-inspired touch.

Who it’s for: Loyalists of the groundbreaking 1992 original will no doubt want to try on this modern spin, as will a new generation of fans—millennials buying into the current ’90s revival, velvet chokers and all.

The launch date: Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey Pure, $108, 50 mL EDP, will be available July at Hudson’s Bay, Murale, Shoppers Drug Mart and Sephora.
