New in Stores: Creed Aventus for Her

The fragrance genre: Fruity/fresh

The perfumer: Olivier Creed

The inspiration: Aventus for men launched in 2010, and went on to become Creed’s most popular fragrance of all time. This is the feminine counterpart, paying tribute to glass-ceiling-breakers past (think: empresses and queens) and present (the powerful everywoman). Tying in with this launch, the brand has announced it will donate $25,000 to I Am That Girl, a non-profit working to improve the emotional, mental and physical well-being of girls through online and local communities, education and other initiatives.

The notes: While the scent is officially described as fruity/fresh, the overall impression isn’t candy-sweet—particularly given the patchouli at the top.

Top notes: Egyptian green apple, pink berries, Indonesian patchouli, Italian bergamot
Middle notes: Bulgarian and Turkish roses, Indian sandalwood, styrax and musk
Base notes: Sweet peach, cassis, lilac, amber and ylang-ylang

The bottle: While the men’s Aventus is clad in black, this one is dove white for contrast.

Who it’s for: Women with a penchant for statement scents.

The launch date: Creed Aventus for Her, $351, 30 mL, will be available August at Holt Renfrew.
