What’s your all-time favourite fragrance? Tom Ford Black Orchid. There are many fragrances I love, but this one feels like me in bottle form. An editor friend of mine in New York turned me onto it.

What’s your best new find? I love Alaïa. It was such a highly anticipated perfume and it lived up to the expectations. Alaïa has never played by the rules and refused to even let anyone on his team use terms like “marketing” or “consumer insight,” in order to create something he felt was timeless and driven by art, not commerce.

How many bottles are in your fragrance collection? I usually have five in high rotation at any one time. I skew toward ambers and musky vanillas—Hermès L’Ambre des Merveilles and Chanel Jersey are two top picks—but I own a collection of about 50 different scents. I am often attracted to the beauty of a bottle that may contain a fragrance that isn’t my style, but I will want to have it anyway because it’s so visually appealing.

What’s your signature spritz style? Pulse points, occasionally layering. Spraying perfume on hair will dry it out due to the alcohol content!
